The whole Chianti region hosts many tourists that visit this region, attracted by the mix of nature together with great wine and food.
The rich and intense Chianti wine production couldn’t miss a quality cuisine, to properly match a glass of Chianti classico.
The Mazzei family had a great idea offering a bed & breakfast and a tavern close to their winehouse where, close to their wines, serve great food.
From the winehouse you just have to cross the street to reach the Castello Fonterutoli Tavern. Everything at walking distance, immersed in the Tuscan nature of Chianti region.
The tavern is managed by the younf chef Lorenzo Baldacci. He is young, but with important experiences. It could be enough to say that he attended Gualtiero Marchesi school and worked in starred restaurants.
Chef Lorenzo prepare refined dishes, using the local ingredients, typical from Tuscany. He is very good in putting together unusual ingredients with great results.
His menu is varied and it is always evolving. To give you an idea, below you can see some of the chef Lorenzo Baldacci’s dishes that I tried personally at Castello Fonterutoli Tavern, enjoying immensely all of them.
Chopped sirloin with green beans purèe and beetroot marinated with truffles
Sous vide cooked rabbit with red and yellow pepper cream, green salad and goat cheese
Potato gnocchi with rocket pesto and tomato and pine nuts tartare
Potato ravioli with peas purèe, onions and crispy Tuscan ham
Guinea fowl with chickpeas cream, spinach and Chianti sauce
Fennel, celery and green apple salad with oil ice cream (figure out that I don’t like fennels nor celery but loved this dessert ;-D)
