A Happy Sunflower White Bread Recipe

Sunflower white bread recipe
  • 300 g of flour
  • 400 g of strong flour
  • 250 ml of milk
  • 25 g of baker's yeast
  • 100 ml of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp of sugar
  • 2 Tsp of salt
  • sesame seeds
  • milk and yolk to brush
  1. Put the flours into the mixing bowl (or another bowl if you will knead it with your hands).
  2. Warm the milk and melt the baker's yeast in it. Add the sugar and then add this mixture to the flour.
  3. Add eggs and olive oil.
  4. When it is all well combined, add salt.
  5. Knead the dough until it is homogeneous.
  6. Put it inside a bowl, cover with a kitchen cloth and let it rest for 1½, 2 hours.
  7. Turn on the oven to 200°C/392°F.
  8. Divide the dough in 3 pieces: a large one, a medium and a smaller piece.
  9. Take the biggest part and divide it in 5 equal parts.
  10. Roll the first piece out forming a circle.
  11. Put it on the oven tray covered with parchment paper.
  12. Brush it with olive oil.
  13. Repeat the process for the next 4 pieces, putting one over the other.
  14. Using a sharp knife, make 5 cuts in the middle of the circles of dough (see photo).
  15. Take each "petal" and open it.
  16. Repeat the same with the second piece of dough (medium), making circles that fit inside the first ones (see photo).
  17. Use the last piece (smaller) to use as the sunflower center.
  18. Beat lightly a yolk with milk and brush all the bread with the mixture.
  19. Add sesame seeds.
  20. Bake for 10 minutes at 200°C/392°F and then 20 minutes at 180°C/356°F.
